On June 11, 2009, the World Health Organization (WHO) raised the worldwide pandemic alert level to Phase 6 in response to the ongoing global spread of the novel influenza A (H1N1) virus. A Phase 6 designation indicates that a global pandemic is underway.

What You Can Do to Plan and Prepare for a Possible Pandemic Flu
The Departments of Homeland Security (DHS) and Health and Human Services (HHS), including the HHS Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have the lead roles for the nation’s response to the H1N1 flu outbreak. For more information on the H1N1, visit our web site and also-www.dhs.gov; www.hhs.gov; and www.cdc.gov.

Whitestone V.A.C.
If your neighbor's child was injured and needed
help, wouldn't you want to do more than watch? Of course you would. And we'd like to offer a suggestion: Become
a Whitestone Volunteer Ambulance Corps member. It's a great way to do something important for your community and
for yourself.
To be a volunteer member, you'll need more than just a desire to
help people. You'll also need courage and dedication, enthusiasm and a
willingness to learn new skills and face new challenges.
If you think you
qualify and can meet the challenge, come in to the Whitestone Volunteer Ambulance
Corps and talk to us. We're located at 12-15 150th Street, Whitestone,
11357.
Watching is a helpless feeling. We can't describe in words the feeling
you'll get from helping.
